Two PinkFish attendees regain consciousness in ICU, says Selangor police chief Posted on 04/01/2025 KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — Two people who were receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) following PinkFish Countdown 2024, where four people tragically lost their lives, have regained consciousness. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the news to New Straits Times, stating, “We were informed by the hospital that both individuals have regained consciousness but remain in a weak condition.” He added that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities having recorded statements from 15 individuals. This includes nine additional witnesses, such as the concert organiser and friends of the seven affected people. Earlier, police had questioned six people and opened four investigation papers. The reports, which were filed on January 1, confirmed the deaths of four local individuals who attended the New Year’s Eve event. The victims, including two women aged between 20 and 40, were identified through reports lodged by UMMC. Yesterday, Hussein revealed that autopsies indicated the four deceased and three others hospitalised all had traces of ecstasy in their systems. Symptoms of ecstasy intoxication were also observed in the three who are currently hospitalised, he added. Authorities had noted that all seven individuals, though in separate groups, had attended the same event where they reportedly overdosed. News
