UPNM cadet claims trial to assaulting junior with hot iron Posted on 08/11/2024 UPNM cadet Amirul Iskandar Norhanizan at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court this morning. KUALA LUMPUR: A National Defence University (UPNM) student pleaded not guilty in the sessions court here today to assaulting a junior at the varsity with a hot iron. Amirul Iskandar Norhanizan, 22, was accused of assaulting Salman Saiful Surash, 20, by placing a hot iron on his chest at the UPNM hostel on Oct 22. Amirul faces a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine, and could also be whipped, if convicted. Judge Egusra Ali granted the accused bail of RM20,000 in two sureties.
