(FAM pic) PETALING JAYA: Two second half penalties helped Malaysia to a 3-1 win over Laos in an international friendly played at the PAT Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand earlier today. The waterlogged pitch created difficulties for both teams and limited their ability to play a fluid passing game, Berita Harian reported. Harimau Malaya, ranked 133rd in the world, took the lead through a goal from central defender Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar in the sixth minute. Laos, ranked 187th in the world, equalised with a goal from Kydavone Souvanny in the 33rd minute. The pitch conditions improved in the second half after the rain stopped towards the end of the first half, allowing Harimau Malaya to dominate possession. Substitute Stuart Wilkin put Harimau Malaya back in front with a penalty in the 64th minute after being fouled by Sengdaovy Hanthavong. The Sabah FC player had another chance to score in the 77th minute after receiving a pass from Sergio Aguero, but his header was saved by Laos goalkeeper Keo Oudone Souvannasangso. Aguero then sealed the win for Harimau Malaya after converting a penalty in the 83rd minute after he was fouled by Phoulaung Vinnavong. Harimau Malaya will now travel to Hyderabad for another friendly match against India, ranked 125th in the world, on Monday. News
