In a statement, Grab said among its most successful partners in Terengganu were Zaimah Mohamed, a single mother who has been a part-time Grab driver since 2017. Grab said the extra income Zaimah earned on the platform had allowed her to save for her children’s education, including enrolling one of them in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) this year. “Through her journey with Grab, she continues to create meaningful opportunities for herself and her family, showing the powerful impact of flexible work in empowering lives,” Grab said. Grab also highlighted the growth of the Roti Jala King Size restaurant in Kuala Terengganu, which has seen sales increase to RM15,000 per month since embracing digitalisation and joining GrabFood in 2021. “We aim to equip our partners with digital tools and earning opportunities that allow them to thrive, while ensuring customers enjoy convenient and reliable service,” said Grab Malaysia country operations and mobility director Rashid Shukor. Rashid said Grab had seen a 20% year-on-year increase in registration among Terengganu micro, small and medium-size enterprises (MSMEs), with more than half of these MSMEs maintaining a 5-star rating. He said the growth Grab had observed among its partners highlighted the transformative impact of technology in driving inclusive economic growth across the state. He added that Grab was also uniquely positioned to advance Terengganu’s vision of sustainable tourism by helping tourists connect with local attractions and cultural experiences. News
