(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Christina Liew, who lost the chairmanship of Sabah Pakatan Harapan today, said she would now focus on PKR’s party polls and the coming state assembly elections. Liew said after the PH elections that it was time to move on and focus on “two difficult challenges next year”, the Borneo Post reported. She said PKR aimed to register a bigger victory at the state elections, which required them to hold discussion with other parties and also within PKR on what they needed to do. She also revealed that PKR will hold its party elections in the middle of next year. The state assembly elections are also due next year. We will face two difficult challenges next year and we have to focus on (them). “We also need to proceed with the agendas of what we want to do,” she was quoted as saying, adding that she will zoom in on enhancing PKR’s Kota Kinabalu division, which she heads. Earlier this evening, Upko president Ewon Benedick was elected the new Sabah PH chairman after beating Liew by three votes. Liew has been the Sabah PH chairman since 2017. Commenting on her defeat, Liew said that she had no problem if the people “think the new management can bring us to bigger victory”. She added: “I am very sure the new management would be able to continue with the work that we have done all this while.” Separately, Sabah DAP chief Phoon Jin Zhe said a new Sabah PH leader will give Sabahans renewed hope as the new leadership can offer the best alternative and best choice. “We will have a more in-depth discussion about seat negotiations and about the elections.” News
