Association lodges police report against vendor selling monkey poison Posted on 26/12/2024 Screenshots of the video showing the vendor throwing ice-cream laced with poison to a troop of monkeys. PETALING JAYA: An animal welfare NGO has lodged a police report against an online vendor selling poison to kill monkeys. Malaysian Animal Welfare Association president Mukunnan Sugumaran said the man recently uploaded a video on TikTok to promote his product – an ice-cream laced with poison called “Crodex”. In the one-minute video clip, the man is seen throwing the ice cream towards a troop of monkeys which he describes as pests that would break into houses. The man says it is the only way to kill the monkeys “properly”. He also said he would not entertain critics. Mukunnan said the vendor’s actions violated the Wildlife Conservation Act. “It could also pose a threat to humans,” he said in his report lodged at the Kajang police headquarters this afternoon. He said the seller’s action may encourage the public to poison animals in the forest and on the street, and called on the police to take action. At the time of writing, the video has not been removed and the seller was shown in several other videos lacing other foods such as bread and bananas with the poison to lure the monkeys. News
