GRS reaffirms commitment to work with Sabah PH for state election Posted on 15/12/2024 GRS chairman Hajiji Noor said he has informed his PH counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, about the commitment to work together. PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah has reaffirmed its commitment to continue cooperating with Sabah Pakatan Harapan for the upcoming state election. GRS chairman Hajiji Noor said he has conveyed this commitment to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PH chairman. While GRS remains open to working with other parties, Hajiji said, collaboration with Sabah PH remains the top priority. “As for the others, we will see. If their ideas are sound and reasonable, we will consider them, as our goal is the greater good. I am the chief minister, and what I want is unity,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying. Hajiji had previously expressed confidence the alliance between GRS and Sabah PH will continue to govern after the next state election, expected to be held by October next year. PH joined the Sabah government following a failed coup attempt by Umno last year. However, key GRS parties, such as Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Parti Bersatu Sabah, have repeatedly insisted that local parties should lead the administration of the state. In announcing Sabah Progressive Party’s departure from Perikatan Nasional to remain in GRS yesterday, party president Yong Teck Lee urged the coalition’s supreme council to resolve any uncertainties regarding its collaboration with PH before the new year. At a Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Christmas event yesterday, Hajiji also said he has informed deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi about GRS’s plans and its readiness for the state election. He also urged Gagasan Rakyat members to continue strengthening unity and preparations for the polls. “October (2025) marks the end of this government’s term. This means we can dissolve the state assembly before or during that time,” he said. News
