(Gambar fail) PETALING JAYA: Seorang rakyat Malaysia dipercayai pelawak popular ditahan di Jeddah, Arab Saudi, kerana disyaki membawa bahan terlarang. Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Riyadh dilapor mengesahkan penahanan seorang rakyat Malaysia itu. Sejak penahanannya sejak dua bulan lalu, pihak Kedutaan Besar Malaysia dan Konsulat Jeneral Malaysia di Jeddah memberikan bantuan konsular kepada individu terbabit. Pihak Kedutaan Malaysia di Riyadh enggan memberikan butiran terperinci identiti warga Malaysia ditahan. “Atas pelbagai faktor, Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Riyadh dan Konsulat Jeneral Malaysia di Jeddah, kesal kerana tidak dapat memberikan butiran lain perkara itu,” katanya kepada Berita Harian. Terdahulu, dilaporkan seorang pelawak popular ditahan di Jeddah kerana dipercayai memiliki dadah jenis ganja ketika dalam perjalanan menunaikan umrah, baru-baru ini. Pelawak itu dipercayai ditahan dua bulan lalu di Lapangan Terbang Jeddah dan masih berada dalam tahanan bagi tujuan siasatan lanjut pihak berkuasa Arab Saudi. Difahamkan, pelawak berkenaan menunaikan umrah bersama rakan-rakannya, namun ditahan selepas disyaki membawa bahan terlarang.
