(Gambar AP) MUAN: Kerosakan pada fungsi gear pendaratan dipercayai punca pesawat Jeju Air terhempas di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Muan pada Ahad ketika cuba melakukan pendaratan cemas selepas percubaan pendaratan pertama gagal, lapor Agensi Berita Yonhap memetik kenyataan pihak berkuasa. Pesawat membawa 181 penumpang dari Bangkok itu cuba mendarat pada 9.07 pagi tadi, sebelum ia tergelincir dari landasan dan melanggar pagar, mengakibatkan sekurang-kurangnya 62 maut. Pihak berkuasa lapangan terbang memaklumkan pesawat itu cuba melakukan pendaratan cemas kerana masalah gear pendaratan selepas cubaan pertamanya gagal. Namun, pesawat malang itu dilaporkan gagal mengurangkan kelajuannya sehingga hujung landasan dan melanggar struktur di bahagian luar lapangan terbang, menurut pihak berkuasa. Nahas itu menyebabkan kerosakan teruk pada pesawat sehingga berlaku kebakaran. Saksi mendakwa terdapat tanda-tanda gear pendaratan pesawat seperti tayar tidak diaktifkan yang mungkin mendorong cubaan pendaratan cemas, dengan pelanggaran burung dipercayai menjadi punca kerosakan.
