Najib’s daughter raises spectre of Reformasi and Bersih rallies Posted on 06/01/2025 Nooryana Najwa Najib made a quip about Reformasi and Bersih rallies in highlighting the heavy security for tomorrow’s pro-Najib rally. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Najib Razak’s daughter Nooryana Najwa has thrown shade at the heavy police presence ahead of a planned solidarity rally in Putrajaya tomorrow. In a brief Instagram post, Nooryana said the roadblocks and police presence recalled the massive Bersih rallies held by Reformasi supporters against her father’s government. “Are we now in the Reformasi era? If we wear Bersih T-shirts, can we pass the roadblocks?” she quipped. Reformasi was the slogan for the movement led by Anwar Ibrahim, and supported by Pakatan Harapan and organisations such as Bersih. Anwar is now prime minister of a PH-led government. Earlier today, police said they would place roadblocks and enforce strict checks on vehicles that attempt to enter Putrajaya tomorrow, with 456 personnel on duty. The rally tomorrow has been described by police as illegal, a description also applied to rallies by the opposition held in Najib’s time. The Court of Appeal will hold a hearing tomorrow on Najib’s application for a judicial review of his move to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest. News
