(Gambar Facebook) PETALING JAYA: Persatuan haiwan menyeru saksi kejadian anjing dipanah di Ladang Malaya di Selama, Perak tampil memberikan maklumat dan membantu siasatan. Seruan ini menyusuli catatan di media sosial mendakwa bahawa pada 22 Dis lalu, seorang pekerja memanah seekor anjing, yang kemudian mati. Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) mengecam perbuatan itu dan menyeru saksi membuat laporan polis dan aduan kepada Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar. “Keterangan saksi adalah bukti penting dalam memastikan tindakan sewajarnya diambil terhadap mereka yang bertanggungjawab,” katanya di Facebook. Menggesa siasatan menyeluruh terhadap kes ini, SAFM berkata pelaku kekejaman terhadap haiwan boleh dikenakan denda RM100,000, atau hukuman penjara sehingga tiga tahun, atau kedua-duanya sekali, menurut Seksyen 30 Akta Kebajikan Haiwan. SAFM juga menyeru undang-undang diperkukuhkan dan penguatkuasaan yang lebih tegas dan berkesan, memandangkan kekejaman terhadap haiwan masih berleluasa. “SAFM menyeru seluruh masyarakat untuk bersatu dalam menegakkan hak haiwan dan memastikan tindakan tegas diambil terhadap pelaku,” katanya.
