(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR: While economic considerations are important, they will not constrain Malaysia’s stance in pushing for justice for the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He said Malaysia, as an independent and sovereign country, would continue to voice its stance on international issues, including the oppression and tyranny in Gaza. He said Malaysia’s relationship with the US was diplomatically still good, with both nations continuing all comprehensive partnerships and cooperation, including the holding of meetings with US leaders. “From January to October, total bilateral trade between Malaysia and the US increased by 29.1% to RM264.28 billion, a relatively high from RM204.78 billion or US$45.09 billion for the same period in 2023,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today. He was responding to RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) who asked whether Malaysia faced any risk of trade sanctions from the US due to the prime minister speaking out on the rights of the Palestinian people and state.
