Police confirm 7 reports filed against Yeoh Posted on 28/12/2024 Youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh said she will appeal against the High Court’s decision to dismiss her defamation suit against former IGP Musa Hassan over his ‘Christian nation’ remarks. PETALING JAYA: Police have received seven reports against youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh for allegedly attempting to convert Muslims and turn Malaysia into a Christian nation. Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman confirmed receiving seven police reports against the DAP Segambut MP. “Police are investigating the matter,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying. Yesterday, several NGOs filed police reports against Yeoh at the Dang Wangi police headquarters calling on the home ministry to ban her book titled “Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey” on the grounds of national security. It was also reported that Yeoh said she would lodge a police report against “malicious” videos and messages insinuating that she is out to convert Muslims to Christianity or is working towards turning Malaysia into a Christian nation. She said such videos and messages could compromise her appeal against the High Court’s decision to dismiss her defamation suit against former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan. On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed a defamation suit Yeoh filed against Musa regarding a statement made at a forum at Universiti Teknologi Mara four years ago. The disputed statement allegedly accused Yeoh of writing her book to make Malaysia a Christian country, destroy Islam and the nation, and place her personal interests above the nation’s interests. Judicial commissioner Arziah Apandi dismissed the suit on grounds that Yeoh had failed to prove her claim on a balance of probabilities. Arziah said Musa’s speech at a UiTM forum on Jan 30, 2020 did not specifically refer to Yeoh, and that many of his remarks referred to other people. Yeoh said her lawyers have filed an appeal with the appellate court. News
