Woman sets motorcycle on fire to prevent ‘repossessors’ from seizing it Posted on 27/12/2024 The woman was seen dousing her motorcycle with petrol before setting it alight in a now viral video. PETALING JAYA: A woman in Taiping, Perak, set her motorcycle on fire yesterday evening to prevent a group of men, believed to be repossessors, from seizing it. In a video making its rounds on social media, it is understood that the woman, who runs a business along Jalan Masjid in Pokok Assam, had not been servicing her loan for a while, Berita Harian reported. A commotion ensued when the woman refused to allow the group of men to repossess her motorcycle before she began dousing the Honda RSX with petrol and setting it alight. The fire, which damaged 80% of the motorcycle, was later put out by the Taiping fire and rescue department. It is understood that the woman was later arrested and is being investigated for committing mischief by fire. Two months ago, a woman was captured on video smashing the windscreen of a green Honda City as repossessors waited to tow it away. It was initially claimed that the woman was the owner of the car who had failed to make payments for eight months. However, it was later revealed that she had been paying the original owner, who was in default. Bukit Aman commercial crime investigation department (CCID) Ramli Yoosuf was later reported as saying that damaging vehicles that are about to be repossessed was a crime under Section 427 of the Penal Code which deals with committing mischief that causes loss or damage. Under the law, whoever commits mischief that causes loss or damage to the amount of RM25 or above shall be punished with a jail term of between one and five years, a fine or both. News
