PKR leadership has final say on Hassan, says disciplinary board Posted on 21/11/2024 By udot Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim was referred to PKR’s disciplinary board over his public criticisms of Putrajaya, which purportedly smeared PKR’s image. PETALING JAYA: PKR’s top leadership will make the final decision on Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim’s fate after he was referred to the party’s disciplinary board over his public criticisms of Putrajaya. PKR disciplinary board chairman Tan Yee Kew said she had already called for a hearing to allow Hassan to explain himself after he was accused of smearing PKR’s image through his actions. “The board will then refer our findings to the PKR central leadership council for the final decision. “This is the disciplinary board’s SOP,” she told FMT. The former Wangsa Maju MP declined to disclose details of the hearing since it was an internal matter, but played down the issue altogether “It’s nothing very serious, this is rather common in the party. We listened to his explanations and will refer the findings and our recommendations to the central leadership council,” she said. FMT understands that the central leadership will decide whether to issue Hassan a warning letter and that he would only be suspended as a PKR member if he commits further violations after receiving a warning letter. Earlier, FMT reported that the outspoken MP was summoned by PKR’s disciplinary board over his public criticisms of the government, including the decision to award the rollout of the second 5G network to U Mobile. Hassan had in a social media post accused the government of repeating the mistakes made by the previous administrations, especially during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s first stint as prime minister. PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh had told FMT that members of PKR’s leadership council had made complaints about Hassan’s statements. She then forwarded the complaints to the disciplinary board for it to probe the matter. News
